Importing a contact list will add users to your existing database. To import users, create a comma delimited file (a .csv file) in Excel with your user's information. HINT: You can export a .csv file (even if your user list is empty) to determine the proper order of information and column headers needed.
To read more about the .csv file please refer to CSV File.

Once you have prepared a .csv file:

  1. Click Import.

  2. The Import SWAT Contacts and Groups dialog box opens.

  3. Click Choose File and browse to the location you saved your .csv file.

  4. If you have included the column headers, (which are not necessary) click the checkbox that says Column headers are included.
There is also a checkbox to Ignore non-reachable users. Selecting this option will prevent entries in your .csv file with no contact information from being uploaded to your user list. Left unchecked, entries with no contact information will be uploaded, but note that these contacts will not be notified by a SWAT message.

  5. Click OK, and the import of SWAT contacts will begin.
If you receive this error message: "Error importing entries. Could not import entry 3. Group Code is not valid (must be a number between 0 and 99)", there is a formatting problem with your .csv file. Please refer to the CSV File section of this document to ensure you have a properly formatted .csv file.

Note: It is strongly recommended that a backup of your existing user database is created before importing new users.
Clearing your user list will delete all users. A Warning message will appear to confirm the deletion of your user list. Please note that once cleared, you will not be able to retrieve the user list unless you've created a backup with the export feature.
