The NPA is the area code of the 10-digit calling number. The NXX is the 3-digit exchange following the area code of the 10-digit calling number.

To add a rule:

  1. Click Add.

  2. The Add Georouting Record dialog box opens.
  3. In the NPA text field, type the 3-digit area code. For example, in the following 10-digit number 905-334-4554, 905 is the NPA.
  4. In the NXX text field, type the 3-digit exchange (NXX) that follows the area code. For example, in the following 10-digit number 905-334-4554, 334 is the NXX. (optional).
  5. From the Queue drop down menu, select a Queue; this queue is assigned to the entered NPA number.
  6. In the Comments text box, type any comments related to the rule. For example, the comment "Oshawa East" indicates this rule applies to all incoming calls from the East Oshawa, Ontario. (optional).
  7. Check Enabled to enable the rule
  8. Click OK. The georouting rule is saved.

Note: The NPA must be defined for all rules, however defining the NXX is optional. If only the NPA is defined for a rule (no NXX defined), the ANI for each incoming call that contains the specified NPA will follow that rule and be routed to the specified queue. However, if an NXX is defined in the rule along with the NPA, the ANI for the incoming call matches the NPA/NXX pair rule, it will follow that NPA/NXX pair rule and be routed to the specified queue.
